Presser Foot Descriptions



Which Foot Does What?

A regular question in the Starting to Sew group relates to the ever popular collection of 32 Sewing Machine Feet, imported from China. This collection is described as : "32pcs Sewing Machine Presser Feet Set Universal fit."


It is advertised as fitting most sewing machines with a low shank system and will fit most Brother, Elina, Singer, Janome / New Home, Pacesetter, Elnita, Juki, Kenmore, Pfaff machines.


So lets jump right in with either a brief description of each foot and how they would typically be used or a link to a video tutorial showing you the foot in action.

  3. Braiding Foot - The braiding foot is one of many types of feet used in couching, which is a form of decorative embellishment, where a length of braid, cord, piping, ribbon, thread, trim or yarn is couched or stitched over to attach it to a fabric project.

  4. Pearl Piping/Cording Foot -This foot has many uses such as sewing seams in knitwear, attaching beads up to 4mm, and making and applying piping up to 1/4” in diameter. Also sews corded pin tucks, sews piping 1/8", 1/4" & 3/8" (for piping your machine must have a left or right needle position).
