New Year Mitten Crochet Along - Part 4

We're down to the final part now, the finger toppers. These are optional, if you prefer to let your fingers feel the fresh wintery air then skip this section and once you have a second Mitten crochet you are good to go.

If however, like me, you feel the chill just that little too much the toppers are a great way to combat Jack Frost.

Get ready to crochet along with me in this FREE CAL. #NewYearsFittedMittenCAL2021

PATTERN DIRECTIONS

Topper

With MC, ch 15 (16, 17, 18). SL ST to join in the rnd, be careful not to twist the ch.

You are now working in a spiral. Place SM after 7th (8th, 8th, 9th) and final sts

Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as first SC), SC to SM, 2 SC-BLO in same st, SC-BLO to next SM, 1, (2, 1, 2) SC-BLO in same st. - 16, (18, 18, 20)sts / 1, (2, 1, 2) sts inc'd

From this point onwards, as you work in a spiral, move markers up (SM) as you come across them.

Rnd 2: SC-BLO in each st to end of rnd.

Rnd 3: SC-BLO to SM, work 2 SC-BLO in the same st, SC-BLO, work 2 SC-BLO in the same st, SC-BLO to next SM, work 2 SC-BLO in the same st, SC-BLO, work 2 SC-BLO in the same st. – 20 (22, 22, 24) sts / 4 sts inc’d

Work Rnd 2 and 3 until you have 30 (32, 34, 36)sts. Continue to work Rnd 2 until the topper fits over your fingers and reaches the knuckle line of the main body of the mitten.

Attach the Topper

Make sure to orient your mitten before attaching the topper.

Right Hand thumb will be on the left, Left hand the thumb will be on the right when worn viewing from the back of the hand.

Work a SC through both the next st on the Topper and the unworked front loop from the knuckle line on the back of the mitten.

Continue to work SC joining to the next front loop on the mitten until the first SM.

Remove both Stitch Markers

Cut MC yarn and fasten off.

Aaaaand you're done!

A fitted mitten with finger topper. Work the second mitten/topper and you are all set to explore the outdoors (when we are next allowed out) in comfort.
