How to Crochet a Simple 5 Point Star

A fun and fast make for applique, wizards robes, witches wands, Fairy Godmother's wands and of course our very own Winter Fir Teacosy.

This video tutorial shows how to create a simple 5 pointed star, starfish or sunburst. The patterns is written below and the video walks you through the process with both US and UK terms. I also show how to use a Magic Loop to cast on as an added bonus.

As the amount of yarn used is small this is an excellent scrap yarn project. If you don't already​ collect your scraps please start as it can be a really economial way to make things in the future.

Instructions UK Terms
 
Chain 4 sts,​ sl st into first st to form circle.
 

​Round 1: ​Ch 3, 14 tr, slst into top of turning chain. 15sts
 

Making ​Points
 

Row 2:​ *Slst, ch ​4, dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1 htr, 1 tr, sl st; rep from * until 5 points ​worked.
 
​Fasten off
 

Instructions US Terms
 
Chain 4 sts,​ sl st into first st to form circle.

Making ​Points
